The Kansas Department of Education School Bus Safety Unit  will be conducting a Transportation Basics for Transportation Directors/Supervisors workshop on December 20, 2017 in Topeka, Kansas. 

There is no cost to attend.

This workshop will be offered again in the summer of 2018. 

This workshop is designed to give transportation directors/supervisors a brief overview of the fundamentals and responsibilities associated with the position.

A few of the topics covered include:

  • Legal responsibilities of the Transportation Director
  • Bus Driver requirements
  • Alcohol and Drug Testing
  • Commercial Driver’s License requirements
  • Physicals 
  • School Bus Regulations
  • Loading and Unloading the bus 
  • 2 ½ mile rule 
  • Out of District Transportation 
  • Bus requirements
  • Emergency Procedures

This workshop is open to any Public or Private School Transportation Director, Transportation Supervisors, School Transportation Contractors and other School Officials involved with school transportation. No Vendors.

Although this course was designed for new transportation directors/supervisors, any transportation director/supervisor is welcome to attend. New transportation directors/supervisors are encouraged to attend.

  • Class size is limited to 24 individuals
  • Free Parking 
  • Lunch will be on your own from 12:00 - 1:00 pm
