SUBJECT: SURVEY—Student Safety/Safe Rooms


In light of tragedies resulting from natural disasters in recent years, the Governor has asked the Kansas State Department of Education for an update on student safety and school readiness. To establish a common standard for this survey, we are asking about safe rooms meeting FEMA P-361 and International Code Council Storm Shelter Standards (ICC-500)*.

We would appreciate your responding to the following questions by no later than August 16, 2013.
