The KSDE Annual Conference focuses on school improvement and the continuous improvement of academic performance for all students. The theme for this year's conference, Kansans CAN! will showcase Kansas school success stories as well as address some of our schools' most significant challenges for the future. The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency and Century II Convention Center in Wichita, Kansas.  Conference registration includes breakfasts, lunches, and snacks.

Online registration closes after October 17, 2016. Walk-in registrations will be accepted.

Assessment Preconference - October 24, 2016

Preconference focuses on state assessments. The information is directed at Test Coordinators, Curriculum Directors, Special Education Directors, Principals and Teachers who manage and administer the assessments.

The morning will begin with a session for New Test Coordinators followed by an overview of state assessments for the 2016-17 school year and Test Security and Ethics training.

Following lunch, breakout sessions are planned for mathematics, ELA, science, history/government, ELPA21, and cPass.

Closing Keynote Speaker - Mitch Holthaus
 
 Mitch Holthaus Voice of the Kansas City Chiefs

Holthus is also the host of the Hy-Vee Chiefs Insider television show. In addition, he originates the “Minute with Mitch” radio and television series which is seen and heard in five states. His work is also featured on kcchiefs.com.

Following the NFL season, Holthus is a television play-by-play announcer for college basketball. His work has been featured on the ESPN family of networks, FOX Sports and other national outlets. He primarily covers the Big 12 and the Missouri Valley Conferences, as well as the SEC. Holthus is a past recipient of the John Sanders “Spirit of the Valley” Award.

Holthus is also a member of the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame and this January will be inducted into the Kansas State University Athletics Hall of Fame. In September of 2012, Holthus was awarded an Emmy for his video and on-line work by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. In addition, Holthus was named the Kansas City Sports Journalist of the Year in 2010.

He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association and is a past President of the organization. Holthus has two degrees from Kansas State University, one in Journalism and another in Business Administration.
