The KSDE 28th Annual Conference focuses on school improvement and the continuous improvement of academic performance for all students. The theme for this year's conference, Kansans CAN: Imagine! The conference will showcase Kansas school success stories as well as address some of our schools’ most significant challenges for the future.

The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency and Century II Convention Center in Wichita, Kansas.  Conference registration includes breakfasts, lunches, and snacks.

Online registration closes after October 4, 2017. Walk-in registrations will be accepted.

Preconference: $105.00

Main Conference: $135.00

Full Conference: $215.00

Assessment Preconference - October 11, 2017
Preconference focuses on state assessments. The information is directed at Test Coordinators, Curriculum Directors, Special Education Directors, Principals and Teachers who manage and administer the assessments.

The morning will begin with a session for New Test Coordinators followed by a presentation on balanced assessments systems, an overview of state assessments for the 2017-18 school year and Test Security and Ethics training.


Following lunch, breakout sessions are planned for:

  • Mathematics
  • ELA
  • Science
  • History/Government
  • KELPA2
  • KITE Updates
  • cPass 

Main Conference - October 12-13, 2017
A variety of breakout sessions will be offered on Thursday and Friday. Conference strands are organized around the Kansas State Board of Education outcomes: Social-Emotional Growth, Kindergarten Readiness, Individual Plans of Study, High School Graduation Rates, and Postsecondary Completion/Attendance.
